Purpose of Foundation

Established through the cooperation of teaching staff members and the research facilities of Saga University, the University of the Ryukyus, and Kagoshima University, the United Graduate School is an independent institution offering a doctoral program in agricultural and fisheries development and training in environmentally sound food production and technical innovation. The main research subjects include the natural environment, biological resources, and local communities in the warm temperate zone, tropics, and subtropics, spanning from Kyushu and Okinawa to Asia and Africa, where region-specific biological production is actively conducted. The department provides comprehensive education and research in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and life sciences. It aims to cultivate human resources who can contribute to both local and global society as doctoral graduates with advanced expertise, technological skills, and global perspective, qualities that are essential for addressing societal needs.
