Courtesy visit to the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) and the Aquaculture Department of Southeast Asian Fisheries and Development Center (SEAFDEC-AQD)

Prof. Ryuta Terada, Dean of the United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Kagoshima University, Japan visited the Philippines on the budget of Follow-up Research Guidance, Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO). This program aims to dispatch research advisors (former supervisors) to visit international students who have returned to their countries after having studied in Japan and who are currently engaged in education or research at schools to provide academic support and future collaboration.

Terada paid a courtesy call on Prof. Encarnacion Emilia S. Yap, Dean of the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, University of the Philippines Visayas on November 28, 2022. The same day, he also visited an international Fisheries Organization in Iloilo, the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC-AQD), and met with Dr. Sayaka Ito, Deputy Chief, and Dr. Leobert D. de la Peña, Head of Research Division, respectively.

Prof. Terada gave a special lecture on “Life Forms and Seaweed Distribution” for students and faculty members of UPV and others on November 29 at CFOS AV Hall, and also introduced the postgraduate study life at Kagoshima University and its advantages for the students who wish to study in Japan.
